What is it?
Daxxify®, by Revance Aesthetics, is a revolutionary new neuromodulator that relaxes frown lines. Its active ingredient, daxibotulinumtoxinA, is a novel purified protein and neurotoxin used to decrease moderate to severe wrinkles. It is the first and only peptide-powered, FDA-approved frown line treatment that delivers year-long results, sometimes with as few as two treatments. Powered by peptides that help stabilize the active ingredient and provide a smoother overall skin appearance, Daxxify® is free of human blood products or cow’s milk protein stabilizers like other conventional neurotoxin treatments. This means there are no human or animal byproducts. Daxxify® is also vegan.
How does it work?
Daxxify® blocks nerve impulses to the muscles that help us smile, frown, and squint, resulting in reduced wrinkles and a softer expression. Daxxify® may last up to 2 times longer than conventional frown line treatments. This neurotoxin is FDA-approved in the United States with results lasting an average of 6 months.
The procedure takes about 10 to 30 minutes. Results can start to take effect by the next day, but full results take about three weeks.
Where is it used?
Daxxify® is approved for use in glabellar lines in adults, but can also be used off-label for wrinkles around the eyes (“crow’s feet”), and forehead creases.
What should I expect after treatment?
- Following treatment, small red bumps may be noticeable and usually resolve within 30 minutes. Mild swelling, bruising, and slight discomfort can be expected.
- Most common side effects in patients: Headache (6%), Eyelid dropping (2%), facial paresis (1%).
- Minimize strenuous exercise for 48 hours following treatment.
- It is recommended not to fly for 24 hours following treatment.
- You should notice some results the next day, with full desired results within 21 days after treatment.
