Peraza Dermatology Group is excited to introduce a new cosmetic procedure to the practice. Absorbable PDO (polydioxanone) are a series of both barbed and smooth threads which result in a natural and non-surgical skin rejuvenation and lifting. The suture itself is an absorbable surgical suture, fully resorbed by the body in four to six months, leaving no scar tissue behind. The skin reacts by creating new collagen around the inserted threads.
Two techniques can be used for PDO threads. The first creates a mesh under the skin, creating a visual hashtag or a net. This mesh serves as a foundation for collagen production, tightening the skin from within. The second technique using “barbed” PDO sutures, produces an immediate result by providing a grip under the skin to create instant skin repositioning. The two techniques can be used singly or in combination in one procedure.
